Oncology 5.0

So my last scan was almost two weeks ago. It’s about 7th or 8th scan I have had in the last 18 months, each worth about 22 months of background radiation.

This latest scan has shown essentially no change. This means the nodes are not getting any bigger, nor are they getting smaller. Technically there is a 1mm change on the two of the nodes for the better, but that kind of measurement is within the margin of error.

So the good news is I’m not yet a non-responder. The bad news is, it would be nice if it was responding better. It’s when the tumours start to grow regardless of chemo that things begin to take a turn for the worse. That turn could be next month, it could be next year… its impossible to know.

Living with uncertainty makes life difficult to plan.

Till the next scan….

Plans and dreams are as essential to living as Oxygen is.
I say plan Big and Breathe well!
We are all there with you for the whole journey despite the uncertain road you travel.
    Love you heaps. Mum xxx

It could be next month, it could be next year…. it could be never.

I understand the difficulty in planning for the future. If I never hear the words “we’ll have to wait and see” from my oncologist again it will be too soon.

Live the life you have now Jared… for yourself and for Hannah. Tomorrow will take care of itself. No matter how hard it gets you *must* get back up again. I will be here on the other side of the Tasman cheering you on.

Heaven is watching…. make it count.
