Oncology 6.0

Last Tuesday involved my 6th CT scan in as many months, followed by an oncology appointment the next day. Much to my surprise, the results were turned around within 12 hours.

This is the news: The biggest node, which was 41x33mm in size, has remained unchanged. The aortocaval node behind this also remains unchanged at 13.5mm. This leaves one more node which was 14mm in size and is now 11mm in size.

This is the first reduction in size of anything for a number of scans now, they have all been largely static. Officially, this is still considered ‘Stable’ disease, as it is neither ‘Regressing’ or ‘Progressing’.

It was kinda funny how the oncologists were excited for me about the ‘good’ news. I guess its good, cos its not progressing, but good news to me is finding out it has all mysteriously disappeared. At the end of the day, whilst this result ultimately means more time on earth, it does not change the final outcome unless there is an Act of God. (hint, hint.. I’m winking at you God)….

Till next time.

Hey Jared, was just poking through your blog and wanted to wish you the absolute best of luck. I cannot imagine taking the amount of Chemo you have dealt with. The word alone makes me want to hide in a corner. I can relate to what you’re going through as I’m in the middle of a Cancer adventure myself. If you ever need to vent or whatever, or just to talk, you have my ear. Again best of luck!

Hi Jared, hoping and praying that it will all mysteriously and miraculously disappear – good to see that there has been some progress. Keep up the good work – you’re doing great at navigating this cancer journey. Best wishes.
